4pelagatos: Correa wants to win by sowing more hatred
Posted On 01 Mar 2017

The article written by José Hernández and published on the 4pelagatos.com website indicates that during Weekly Address No. 513, held last Saturday, President Rafael Correa spent an hour and forty minutes talking about the elections of February 19.
Hernandez said “The whole weekly address, which lasted more than four hours, was converted – again – on the electoral platform, this time, against Guillermo Lasso.
No one doubts that Correa will want to keep the last word on what happened the last elections. No wonder he will declare himself a winner. He will celebrate the results of the referendum. He will turn the defeat of Lenin Moreno into a historical fact: for him, the candidate of Alianza País wins the first round with a difference never seen before. He will assure that his party achieved the 54% of the Legislature and the highest number of elected officials, three out of 5 members of the Andean Parliament.
Correa labeled the weekly address as historic because he summarized and interpreted the 19F results during its broadcast. In his way of course. He does not compare any percentage against ten years of power. Neither against his figures or the number of assembly members he has and those he claims to have. Nor against the fact that the second round was never in his calculations. All this is not surprising: it is the confidence he has to accommodate truths, disrupt events and distil hatred with the face of it-was-not-me-because-the-one- who-hates-is-you. He has become a victim of violence and an attempted fraud. He even claims that the political opposition infiltrated people in the CNE (Electoral National Council), of which he speaks as a personal agency.
