840 people with disabilities affected by earthquake in Ecuador

According to the latest report of the National Secretariat for Risk issued yesterday (April 25, 2016), at 13:00, After the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, 840 people with disabilities were identified in Esmeraldas and Manabi. Of that total, 268 people are in shelters and 126 foster homes.
Brigades of volunteers and staff of the National Disability Council (Conadis) visit the victims to conduct assessments to these people.
Roberto Gilces director in charge of the health center of Jama, said they also count on the assistance of Cuban doctors who came to the camps of disaster victims to hear cases of vulnerable people.
The goal is to give attention -he notes,- and prevent colds by the rains that have fallen in these sectors in the last four days, as well as stomach infections, respiratory problems and skin irritations.
However, the leaders of the communities surrounding Pedernales claim that the aid reaches certain points, but there are other points where people with disabilities are still waiting.
