86.3% does not want an account for electronic money, according to a survey of daily El Comercio

Daily El Comercio conducted a survey among its readers, of which 86.3% of 2,912 respondents said they are not willing to open this type of account against a 12.2% who would do it (356).

70.5% would not use electronic money because it is administered by the BCE (Central Bank of Ecuador for its Spanish acronym) and not by a private bank. Another 17% noted they have no money to open an account because they are unemployed or have debts. Ecuador registered a national unemployment rate of 5.3% in June, this is 0.8 points higher than June 2015. 2365 readers responded to this suvey. A fourth question was made: why? Of a total of 1,796 readers, 1172 (65.3%) rule out its use, so they would not benefit from the 4% VAT discount and do not believe it is a safe way to manage their resources.

Barely a 27.6% would use this mechanism to get the VAT discount, while 7.1% consider that its use is safe.
