Access to traffic data is limited
The technological system that contains the data of all vehicles in the country operates for two years now.
It is called Axis and is run by of the National Transit Agency (ANT for its Spanish acronym). This was implemented to streamline procedures such as registration, issuance of licenses, certificates of vehicle ownership and access to data for the vehicle technical inspection.
The idea was that all municipalities can enter a global platform and have access to the information of each vehicle and its owner. Thus, users would avoid streamline transit procedures.
However, that still occurs and is more common when people want to register their cars in a city but can not do because traffic tickets have been issued in other counties.
And they have to roam from one municipality to another, since access to the database of the ANT is still limited.
