Accussed of Karina del Pozo’s murder is exonerated
Last July 4, Raul Martínez, the first tenth Judge of Criminal Guarantees, agreed to process the annulment petition to the order to initiate the trial filed by defense attorney David Piña, one of the boys accused of the murder of the ecuadorian young girl Karina del Pozo, on February 19.
The Defense is looking to avoid the trial for murder.
Following the approval of this appeal the process should be referred to one of the specialized chambers of the Provincial Court of Pichincha.
David Piña, José Sevilla and Gustavo Salazar, are the three young men who were called to trial on June 27, because they were accused of the murder of the young model, who, according to the autopsy, died after receiving several blows to the head.
If it is shown that the suspects are guilty of the crime, they could face a sentence of up to 25 years of imprisonment.
