Al-Shabab is Responsible of Killing Peacekeepers
Al-Shabab anti government fighters killed more than 70 African Union peacekeepers in the country’s capital, Mogadishu. According to Abu Omar, a commander of the anti government Islamist group, the Burundian soldiers were murdered last Thursday during a battle with al-Shabab.
Omar informed Al Jazeera that more than 150 Burundian soldiers were killed in that battle. The order to display the corpses in the dust came from Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage, an al-Shabab spokesman. The bodies were placed at 18km from Mogadishu, in El-Maan area that is controlled by the anti government group.
The heavy fighting came was reported in the northwest Dayniile district throughout Thursday. The hostilities started before dawn near Mogadishu however al-Shabab fighters have not distanced from its aim to topple the government; the group still controls large sectors of southern and central Somalia.
