Alberto Acosta talks about the right to resistance

Posted On 15 Sep 2015

Alberto Acosta, former president of the Constituent Assembly, in an interview with Ecuavisa said that in the Constitution of Montecristi “no romanticisms nor decisions of Alberto Acosta or Rafael Correa” were included, he said that the important thing is that representatives of the Ecuadorian people in Montecristi were those who collaborated in the writing of the Constitution, which was then overwhelmingly voted at the polls.

“Here there is no romanticism. The right to resistance is enshrined in international treaties, it arises from many years in the struggle for the emancipation of humanity.”

“The right to resistance, and other rights, bother President Correa because he ceased to be the Democrat we supported, as well as the Constitution that would last 300 years, which was the best in the world, which was a celebration of life, and who transformed into the leader of the XXI Century.”

Acosta was emphatic in saying that “Rafael Correa is the leader of the XXI Century who  bothers about rights, many of them established in the Constitution.”
