The businessman Álvaro Noboa announced this Saturday his intention to run for the sixth time as a candidate for the Presidency of Ecuador in the February 2021 elections.
Noboa, through a video on his Twitter account, said that he will participate to attack poverty and corruption.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) confirmed to CNN that Álvaro Noboa presented his documentation to the organization this Saturday, so that his registration as a presidential candidate can be validated.
The CNE added that Noboa aspires to register his candidacy with the support of the Social Justice movement, which was authorized by the electoral body with a new deadline to continue with its process of registration and qualification of candidacies.
At CNE, so far, it has qualified 15 presidential pairs, of the 17 formally registered. The February 2021 election could become the election with the highest number of candidates in the history of Ecuador. In Ecuador, voting is mandatory.
