Álvaro Noboa supporters announce legal actions to register his candidacy
“The corrupt CNE says that the registration was done out of time. It is a lie, a smokescreen that he intends to put up so as not to qualify Noboa’s candidacy. The country is deceived, and they try to delay the registration, ”said Sánchez, this Monday, November 23, at a press conference.
He added that they will move to Quito and remain there “until the ruling of the Contentious Electoral Tribunal (TCE) is respected and until the legally registered candidacy is qualified.”
According to Sánchez, they also filed complaints with the United Nations and with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
Yesterday, the CNE closed the door to Noboa to participate in the 2021 elections. Through a statement, the electoral authority assured that the registration procedures were not concluded “due to the responsibility of the political organization itself,” because the group did not meet the electoral deadlines for registration.
Therefore, the CNE indicates that the TCE resolution, which ordered the culmination of the process, “does not fit in the case of the presidential candidacy.”
With this decision, the possibility that Noboa appears on the ballot for the 2021 elections, under the banner of Social Justice, does not exist.
