AMT tries to control Uber and Cabify

Discretion in the service is the key to avoid inconveniences when it comes to transporting passengers. Drivers working with the Uber and Cabify app´s take care of control operations to avoid penalties.
These platforms do not imply a competition with yellow cabs, according to the manager of Cabify in Quito Daniel Arévalo. And they are a technological bridge between users and drivers, but not a taxi service, according to Saulo Passos, from Uber Latin America.
But an ordinance governs in the capital that prohibits the use of this type of mechanisms if they are not approved by the National Transit Agency. The controlling agency only grants permits to local app´s that belong to regularized taxi companies.
In the capital, the operations to punish these drivers are done as part of the control of irregular taxis, without distinction. (I)
