FC Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta was chosen as the best player in Europe of the last season.
UEFA President, Michel Platini awarded the soccer player during the draw for the Champions League, held today at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Iniesta exceeded the direct vote of 53 sportswriters, one for each member of UEFA, the Argentine Lionel Messi (Barcelona) and Portugal‘s Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).
“I am very proud, and I want to dedicate this award to my colleagues in Barcelona and the Spanish national team,” said Iniesta. “I am privileged to be here with two monsters of football.”
