Andres Paez warns U.S. Ambassador on Pedro Delgado case

Andrés Páez
Assemblyman Andres Paez (CREO), warned today the U.S. ambassador in Ecuador, Adam Namm, about the problems that would arise if Pedro Delgado Campana, former Central Bank of Ecuador and cousin of President Rafael Correa, gets the renewal of the visa or is granted residency or asylum.
Due to the recent statements of Juan Carlos Carmigniani, Delgado’s attorney, Paez showed his concern about the issue. According to the legislator in the event that this occurs it would facilitate the accused to remain as a fugitive and would have impunity against the judgments he would receive in Ecuador on various charges of alleged crimes as bank embezzlement, money laundering and fraudulent use of false documents.
The assemblyman took the opportunity to criticize the slow response of the attorney general, Galo Chiriboga, for being late to take action in the case Duzac, and also for going to the Carondelet Palace, supposedly to give account to the regime leader Rafael Correa, regarding the events of the case September 30.
At the moment there are scheduled nine appearances of senior officials and former officials of Seguros Rocafuerte, Bank Cofiec, Banks and Management Unit Trust Public Law AGD-CFN No More Impunity (Ugedep) that the prosecution is carrying out in the preliminary investigation stage for alleged embezzlement irregular banking on the loan given to Gaston Duzac, in December 2011. Such hearings would be held between 10 and 21 June at 09h00.
