Angelina Jolie turns 39

The actress would undergo surgery to have her ovaries removed in order to avoid the risk of developing cancer
Born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, Angelina Jolie is the daughter of award-winning actor Jon Voight and actress and producer Marcheline Bertrand. Today she turns 39 on the eve of the world premiere of her film Maleficent.
Her mother died of ovarian cancer in 2007, so Jolie would perform a surgery to remove her ovaries because she has the ‘defective’ gene BRCA1, which increases by 50% the risk of developing the disease. Previously, the actress underwent a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer.
Jolie, who studied drama at age twelve, won an Oscar in 2000 as best supporting actress for her participation in Girl Interrupted.
