Assembly approves Labor Justice Law

The Organic Law for Labor Justice and Recognition of Home Labor was approved yesterday during the second and final debate of the National Assembly, which was approved with a total of 91 votes in favor, 29 against and 17 abstentions.
This law comprises the affiliation of 1,500,000 housewives to social security, excluding health care; the elimination of state contribution of 40% to IESS; ceiling to the profits of workers and the monthly payment of annual bonuses.
This law was passed amid opposition from assembly members, associations of retirees and employees of telecommunications companies, according to whom, the new measures assault their rights.
