Attorney General Carlos Baca investigates recordings of Brazilian informer

A so-called “Cooperator C1 of the Republic of Brazil” delivered on June 9 audio and video information contained in an 8G memory card to Attorney General Carlos Baca Mancheno, who is part of the investigation into the alleged crime of extortion against Carlos Pólit, who resigned his position as State Comptroller on June 20.

This device was handed over to the Ecuadorian Prosecutor’s Office seven days after the raid on the home of Polit in Guayaquil and his apartment in Quito as part of the investigations in the case of the Brazilian company Odebrecht.

The device was delivered by signing a certificate of receipt and recognition. On June 16, a judge of the National Court of Justice authorized the “recognition, exhibition and extraction of information, which contains files, including audio and video.” (I)
