Banana and shrimp, go to the Brazilian market

Banana and shrimp from Ecuador will enter the Brazilian market again. This was announced last week by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Pablo Campana Sáenz, after meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Marcos Pereira, in the framework of the bilateral meetings that the Ecuadorian delegation has held during the Eleventh Ministerial Conference of the Organization.

In the case of bananas, the work plan for its exportation in 2018 was already signed by the Ecuadorian Agency for the Assurance of Agro Quality (Agrocalidad) and the Directorate of Plant Health of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil.
An Ecuadorian delegation, made up of Agrocalidad, the National Institute of Agricultural Research and the Ministry of Foreign Trade, has already traveled to Brazil to negotiate phytosanitary restrictions for the export of bananas. The technical report and the work plan for risk mitigation were presented. After 20 years, the banana returns to the Brazilian market. The shrimp returns after 18 years of waiting. (I)
