Bishop is accused in Australia for child sexual abuse
The Australian justice imputed to Bishop Max Davis, who heads a military diocese of the Catholic Church in Australia, for alleged child sexual abuse committed in 1969, as resported by local media this Monday.
Davis is the highest-ranking cleric in the Catholic Church and the first bishop accused of pedophilia in Australia, notes ABC local network .
The bishop, who denies the charges, is accused of sexually abusing a student when he taught at St Benedict school in the town of New Norcia, northwest of the city of Perth.
When the incident supposedly occurred, Davis had not yet been ordained priest, according to a statement by the Catholic Military Order of Australia released last night.
