Blossoming of the Guayacan trees boosts tourism

The flourishing of the 40 000 hectares of the Guayacan trees (timber tree), occurs with the first rains of January and lasts until February 1. This natural event occurs in Zapotillo, and their border parishes Cazaderos, Bolaspamba and Mangahurco. Its inhabitants were prepared in advance to provide lodging, food, guidance and handicrafts to the tourists.
This year, this natural event began on a Friday. The first yellow flowers blossomed with the dawn of that day. According to the Parish Board of Mangahurco, more than 4 000 people have come to look at the yellow flowers, that when they fall form a kind of carpet.
According to Osman Romero, President of the parish Board of Mangahurco, since last October, 500 residents of the border towns have received training by the Ministry of tourism to provide attention to the visitor.

The Promotion of the blossoming began in 2012. According to the parish board of Mangahurco, that year reached 200 tourists, in 2013 were more than 2 000, and he is now expecting to be more than 4 000 visitors.
