Bolivia wants to join the bioceanic project
Posted On 24 Nov 2014
The president of Bolivia, Evo Morales stated as “shorter and cheaper option,” the idea of the bioceanic train, to be built by Peru and Brazil, to go through Bolivian territory, a proposal recently dismissed by Lima.
“If the bioceanic railroad passes through Bolivia this would be shorter and cheaper,” Morales said last week. Peru and Brazil are planning the construction of a train that allows their trade ports from the Atlantic and Pacific to unite, by using Chinese funding.
The plan generated in October some diplomatic friction between Lima and La Paz, after Morales said that Peru would be isolating Bolivia in the plan. Morales hopes to hold talks with his Peruvian counterpart.
