Bomb attack leaves at least 5 dead and 19 wounded in Nigeria
A Nigerian market town of Potiskum (north) was the scene of an attack this Sunday after a girl with a hidden bomb in her body exploded leaving at least five people dead, reported witnesses and medical sources.
“At least five people were killed, along with the girl, while 19 others were injured in the blast and taken to the hospital,” told AFP Buba Lawan, a member of a local group of self-defense.
The attack occurred about at 13:30 local time (12:30 GMT) in peak traffic hours, traders said.
A hospital source confirmed the death and injuries toll. “We received six bodies, including the kamikaze girl. In addition, “19 people were injured in the blast and are receiving medical care” in the establishment, it added.
This attack joins other committed by children in Nigeria and allegedly planned by the jihadist group Boko Haram.
