Bucaram’s Family ask the CNJ to annul the judgments against Abdala
This morning Dalo Bucaram, National Assemblyman for PRE party, ask the National Court of Justice (CNJ) to annul the judgments against her father, former Ecuadorian president, Abdala Bucaram Ortiz.
“Unfortunately the political fear of the president (Rafael) Correa, about facing a real leader in the polls as Bucaram does that keep you in exile in Panama,” said the Assemblyman.
After the First Chamber of National Court overturned the trial of former vice-president Alberto Dahik, Bucaram’s family called for a review of cases brought against the president intensified.
Abdala was president of Ecuador since August 1996 to February 1997. The Congress dismissed on grounds of mental incapacity. They were then opened two prosecutions for embezzlement. In April 2005, the trials against Bucaram were declared void during the brief period of functions of a Supreme Court questioned. Later, the new Court annulled the action taken by its predecessor.
