CAL will meet today to decide on wages of assembly members
It is expected that the Board of Legislative Administration (CAL for its Spanish acronym) to session today to decide on the salaries of Assemblymembers”taking into consideration the ceilings established by the Ministry of Labour,” said Marcela Aguinaga, Second Vice President of the Assembly.
Aguinaga said that the Parliament would have an austere budget, because “assemblymembers are not paid travel allowances.”
“They have no chauffeurs, they have a number of restrictions that makes them handle their activities with austerity. There will be other measures that will be discussed within the CAL,”Aguinaga said; however, the website of the institution displays the amounts disbursed for travel allowances within and outside the country.
He added that lawmakers that do not live in Pichincha “receive no compensation,” but residence bonus and tickets to travel to their hometowns.
