CAN asks Ecuador for equal trade treatment
Certain products from the Andean Community (CAN for its Spanish acronym) would re-enter to Ecuador without recognition of quality certificates, such as toiletries, food, plastics, metalworking products, toys, etc.
This happens after the Opinion 3 of the General Secretariat of the entity, issued on November 3, which was released yesterday and through which it is established that Ecuador has partially breached the Agreement of Cartagena by giving preferential treatment to imports from the European Union (EU).
Last June, the Ministry of Industry issued an agreement, which only requires EU imports an affidavit stating that the quality standards of the country are met.
The CAN said they ask for the same treatment to the products of Bolivia, Colombia and Peru in an immediate way.
