CAN ratifies trade restrictions in Ecuador
Posted On 20 Aug 2014
The General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN for its Spanish acronym) ratified its resolution 1695, in which it observed the restriction measures on trade by Ecuador.
On June 6, 2014, the CAN said in that resolution that Ecuador is restricting interregional trade when the Council of Foreign Trade (Comex for its Spanish acronym) issued Resolution 116, which established a series of import controls, that include the obligation to submit certificates of the Ecuadorian Standardization Institute (INEN for its Spanish acronym) to clear imported products from the custom´s office.
In response to that, the CAN set a deadline of 15 days for Ecuador to terminate the measurement.
