Catalonia celebrates National Day demanding independence
On the occasion of the National Day celebration in the region in Catalonia, Spain, the independence associations have mobilized its citizens urging them to support the referendum of November 9th for independence from Spain.
For the third consecutive year, hundreds of people have invaded the streets of Barcelona to demand independence, forming a giant V of “Voting” on two main avenues of Barcelona, at the refusal of Madrid and the Spanish government of Mariano Rajoy, who has said he will prevent it because it is unconstitutional.
Catalonia, with 7.6 million inhabitants, is one of the strongest economic regions of Spain.
Meanwhile, the chief executive of the region of northeastern Spain, Artur Mas, warned this Thursday to Mariano Rajoy that it is all set to hold the referendum he rejects.
“At this moment I will not talk about another scenario than the query of November 9, said Mas in Barcelona, where he assured he has “everything ready” to celebrate it.
