Chavez prays to live more time

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has spent his years praising the socialist ideals of famous atheist leaders like Karl Marx and Fidel Castro. However now that Chavez is assailed with a dangerous cancer and a difficult challenge for reelection, the Venezuelan leader has turned to religion to shelter himself and in public events he shows a tiny crucifix and prays to God so that he may live longer.

On April 30 the voice of Chavez broke when he said goodbye to his people prior to his travel to Cuba for yet another treatment of radiotherapy. “I am sure that our Christ will continue to do the miracle.”

Several political analysts believe that if the current president survives the cancer he may have a political advantage in a country with a strong catholic influence. Chavez has promised that he would participate in the upcoming presidential elections in October.

Chavez has learned to alternate between emotion and optimism by mentioning God and Jesus Christ in almost every television appearances. (AV)
