China wants to establish itself as a priority partner of Latin America
China will renew its commitment to establish itself as a primary partner of Latin America in the first CELAC forum that is being held this week in Beijing, said on Monday, January 5 a Chinese diplomat.
According to the diplomat, the relations between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC for its Spanish acronym) “must grow in parallel” with the relations of the region and the United States. “These (relations) shouldnot be contradictory, and I think this is good for the region and the world,” he added.
According to the official news agency Xinhua, the forum will be opened by President Xi Jinping, who will be accompanied by his peers of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro; Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís; and Ecuador, Rafael Correa. In addition, 20 ministers from member countries of the CELAC will participate.
