Eight companies of China agreed to buy $20 million of banana and fish flour. This was one of the results of the XI Commercial and Economic Commission of Mixed Cooperation, developed yesterday between both Nations.

President of the Semquel Company, Freddy Serrano along with a few representatives of small producers would export baby banana and conventional banana from the provinces of Esmeraldas, Los Ríos, Cotopaxi, Guayas and El Oro.

“We have commercialized with them, and they have seen the quality of the fruit, now they are going to sign a contract for $5 million.” This amount is equal to 12 thousand tons, and the treaty can be renewed every year. The Chinese market is one of the best since it has over 1.300 millions of habitants.

The transportation cost of one banana box for China is of $3,50, while in Europe it’s of $4,50 for small companies. According to the Chinese embassy, during the first nine months of 2010, the commercial quantity arrived to $1.490 million.
