Claro and Movistar express a view on salaries and profits
The companies Claro and Movistar responded to the government, defending its revenues, profits and the wages of employees.
Juan Manuel Casas, Movistar representative in Ecuador, said that before doing an analysis and legal reforms is necessary to know how much the 2,000 employees of the company earn. According to Casas, any worker receives less than $ 340, the unified basic salary. He also noted that 60% of workers earn more than $ 1,000 as a monthly income.
The speech of Conecel (Claro) was similar. In a statement, the company representatives indicated that 56% of its employees earn up to $ 1,000, 34% reach $ 2,000 each month and a 10% is above that value.
Operators, nevertheless, have not yet submitted a formal complaint or request for the removal of the draft amendments to the Telecommunications Law.
