‘Clear rules’ are demanded by the defense of Ortega to the Council that will judge him
Lieutenant Commander of the Navy Edwin Ortega yesterday did not attend the hearing convened by a Disciplinary Board to judge him for an alleged offensive conduct towards President Rafael Correa.
Consequently, this instance of the Navy shall call him for the second time in order to assess the alleged disciplinary offense he would have committed when replying an e-mail to Correa.
Juan Vizueta, lawyer of the officer, confirmed that the hearing was not installed because he and his client did not attend it.
He explained that as the defendant was abasent, and according to the military rules, the Council shall make a second call.
“We will wait for the second call to clarify (the version of Ortega), but mostly (we demand) there are clear rules because we do not want to resort to a Disciplinary Board where the arbitrators are already bought,” Vizueta said.
