CNE and TCE met to discuss amendments to the Code of Democracy
The National Electoral Council (CNE) and the Electoral Disputes Tribunal (TCE) ended yesterday a two-day workshop in which the reforms that both institutions intend to make to the Code of Democracy were analyzed.
The event was held in the auditorium of the Pichincha Delegation of the CNE, and was attended by the technical staff of these institutions to analyze the amendments to the Electoral Act.
The CNE recognized 74 points that would need a change in the regulations, while the TCE recognized about 30.
Juan Pablo Pozo, President of the CNE, added that at his sole discretion, the request of a compulsory license for campaigning for the authorities that seek reelection should be included in the Code. He also noted that errors and confusion between movements and political parties have been identified.
The proposals of the CNE and the TCE shall be approved by the plenary of each of the entities before being sent to the Assembly. The Electoral Function plans to deliver these proposals in mid-2015.
