The plenary session of the National Electoral Council (CNE) approved the amounts of the promotion fund that will govern the campaign of the referendum and popular referendum that begins this Wednesday, January 3, 2017.
The councilors of the organism met in Guayaquil on the afternoon of this Tuesday, January 2, 2017. Thus, it was recalled that for each option (Yes and No) USD 1 953 989.70 have been allocated. And for each question a fund of USD 279 141.39 was set. For questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Yes option, 34 political and social organizations were registered. For each question each group will have as a promotion fund for advertising guidelines USD 8 210.64, while in question 7 the amount is USD 7 753.93, since there are 36 organizations registered for the campaign. In contrast, in the option No four groups registered.
Each one has a fund of USD 69 785.35 for each question. The president of the CNE, Nubia Villacís, assured that the fund is equitable, since the promotion fund that is by thesis was divided in equal parts. “No matter the number of registered social and political organizations, but the amount that will be handled by thesis and in both theses will handle the same item,” he justified. Earlier, the councilors presided over the activation of the National Electoral Security Board, which together with the Territorial Tables, will attend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the day of the process, next February 4.
Councilor Paul Salazar reported that the comprehensive security of the electoral process will encompass the management of incidents from the CNE table, permanent security to electoral wineries, round trip transport of electoral material and technical kits, citizen security and the flow of electoral documents. It was also detailed that as part of the process, on January 21 and 28, electoral drills will be held to measure the capacity to respond to any eventuality.
It was also reported that on February 1, people deprived of liberty will exercise their right to vote and on February 2 the vote will be taken at home. (I)
