CNE issues penalties to organizations for not delivering campaign expenditure reports
The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) sanctioned 134 responsible servants of the economic management (RME for its Spanish acronym) for failing to file reports of campaign expenditure accounts of February´s last local elections.
About 60 of 155 organizations committed this failure. The CNE did not give the names of the sanctioned.
The agency sent a notification to the directors of the political organizations, who must submit these documents within a maximum term of 15 days.
Article 234 of the Code of Democracy states that: “Being this period defunct, representatives of economic management that have not submitted their accounts of the last election, the competent authority of office and without exception shall punish them according to what is in the law and will ask the governing bodies of political organizations to submit accounts within an additional 15 days”.
About the sanctions, it is outlined in the last paragraph of Article 275 of the Democracy Code: “Infringements are punishable by suspension of political rights until a year and a fine of ten basic consolidated monthly wages for workers in general”.
