Colombia attracted Ecuadorian buyers again
Supply lists, technology, clothing, shoes, food and cleaning products were among the items Ecuadorians bought last weekend in Ipiales, a Colombian border city with the country.
Most Ecuadorian visitors were from cities of the Sierra, like Quito, Ambato and Ibarra.
School holidays in the Sierra and in the Amazon region increased the presence of domestic tourists in the Colombian city. Many did not mind queing and waiting for more than three hours to cross the Rumichaca international bridge, the land passage that links Ecuador and Colombia.
The line of cars even exceeded 4 kilometers long. Low prices in supply lists and offers led many locals to travel to Ipiales.
“Here I am saving up to half of what I spend in Ecuador in a school supplies list,” said one of the Ecuadorian visitors, who before crossing the border changed his dollars for pesos.
