Commission approves first reading of Energy Law
Last Wednesday, the Economic Development Commission of the National Assembly unanimously adopted the report of the first debate on the Draft Organic Law of the Public Service of Electric Power submitted by the Executive, which had three variations.
One of the observations that will appear on the text to be sent to the Assembly, is the total elimination of Article 60 affecting firefighters. This article determined that the electric service bill only included utility costs and eliminated the rate in favor of the Fire Department, which would significantly undermine its revenues and would place supply costs required for its work, on the state.
Opposition Assemblyman and member of the Commission, Patricio Donoso, explained that now they will be expecting the ruling by the Legislative, and will begin with the coordination to prepare the second report, which hopes to count again with the views of political actors such as the Minister Energy and Mines and the Minister of Non Renewable Energy, as well as representatives of the municipalities that have public companies on their watch.
