CONAIE announces permanent mobilization to take care of its headquarters
Posted On 25 Dec 2014
Indigenous leaders gathered at the headquarters of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE for its Spanish acronym) in order to define the strategy of defense of the infrastructure, which they say, belongs to them as part of a”historical reparation.”
After meeting, the Indigenous announced their right to resistance and warned they will not leave the headquarters of the CONAIE, which they consider a heritage of indigenous peoples. They also went on permanent mobilization and called for national unity.
This, after President Rafael Correa indicated that the loan agreement determines that the headquarters of the CONAIE are exclusively for socio-organizational activities, but not political.
