Concertacion movement, led by Cesar Montufar, stays out of the 2013 elections.
QUITO, Ecuador
The Concertacion movement, led by Cesar Montufar, stayed out of the 2013 elections according to the signature verification process carried out by the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym).
Concertacion required 17,500 signatures to complete the electoral roll of 157,948 signatures in order to obtain legal status, therefore it presented a package of 57,000 new rubrics.
Of the presented signatures, only 11,500 were recorded as valid, ie, the movement lacked 6,000 signatures to accomplish registration.
Moreover, the Pachakutik (PK) movement, the Movimiento Popular Democratico (MPD) and the Partido Roldosista Ecuatoriano (PRE) did manage to pass the CNE’s review and they are now political group accepted in the 2013 elections. (MZ)
