Construction company of Toachi-Pilatón project has been fined since 2013 for $ 3.25 million
China International Water & Electric (CWE), construction company of the hydroelectric project Toachi-Pilatón, has been fined for more than $ 3.25 million due to defaults on its contract in terms of time, technical procedures, and standards of health and safety.
The sanctions were issued in March 2013 in a report by the Comptroller, who made eight observations for signature. According to the manager of the Electricity Corporation of Ecuador (Celec), Eduardo Barredo, to date these violations have been corrected.
The Comptroller evaluate project implementation until March 2012. Among the observations was determined that there was no timely delivery of land in the Alluriquín sector and therefore the beginning of the work was delayed.
However according to information from Celec-Hidrotoapi (State counterpart in the project) on this observation has concluded the transfer of 92% of the farms.
