Controls to check “pre-campaigns” are being conducted

Carlos Pólit, Comptroller General of the State, and the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Domingo Paredes, yesterday made a tour of Guayaquil, Duran, Samborondon and Salitre to demonstrate the development of the early campaign, as well as the abuse of public resources to promote officials who will be candidates in next February’s elections.

Promotion of names and images of candidates in billlboards, cars, homes and even in public works executed during the administrations of current officials  were discovered during the tour.

Polit and Paredes found during their visit in Duran the name of Dalton Narvaez, current mayor and candidate for re-election, reflected in the window of a sports complex in the Primavera 2 sector, which according to Paredes is a double violation, since is an early campaign  promotion  and it also  promotes his name into a work that used public resources.

Also in Samborondon, Polit and Paredes found the names of the Mayor who is running for re-election, Jose Yunez (PSC) and the prefect Jimmy Jairala (AP-CD) embodied in several works.

Polit said that the Comptroller’s Office is conducting special tests in all municipalities and provincial councils in the country to verify  if  there is or not a  bad management of public funds at the moment to promote names.
