The White House will not negotiate with Edward Snowden
On Monday, the White House refused to negotiate an amnesty with the former CIA analysy, Edward Snowden, in exchange for the stolen documents and instead they demanded he returns to the U.S. where he faces charges for revealing surveillance programs of the National Security Agency (NSA).
“Our position has not changed,” said White House spokesman, Jay Carney, speaking about the case of Snowden, who has been granted temporarily asylum in Russia.
Carney’s reaction came after Rick Legett, an official of the NSA, manifest that “from a personal point of view” would be favorable to negotiate with Snowden to retrieve these documents.
Carney stressed that statements Legett through the CBS, were his “personal opinion” and recalled that Snowden is “accused of leaking classified information and faces charges that constitute a crime” in the United States.
