Controversial statements by Gustavo Jalkh

Posted On 04 Sep 2017

Ecuadornews:

“You know President Correa. Some judges would listen to him or not because they finally had to rule sentences with specific legal criteria,” says President of the Judicial council Gustavo Jalkh during an interview.

When asked about the leaked emails that account for a list of aspiring judges who are qualified according to their political affinity, Jalkh says that it is a hacking of the Presidential email accounts, which is a criminal offense that is being investigated in the courts of the republic. The contents of these emails are, at least, in doubt, he ensures.

Similarly, Jalkh has denied all allegations that during the previous government, justice did not enjoy independence. (I)
