President Rafael Correa said that the tax on ‘junk food’ would be only for large companies that threaten human health and would not apply to small businesses.
“How difficult it is to do things, how much irresponsibility is in our politicians and certain media!”, He said about the treatment that has been given to the subject.
According to Correa, in Ecuador, with such taxes it is expected to create a substitution effect, for people to prefer national healthy food instead of international chains junk food.
