Correa fears a persecution against him if Lasso wins elections

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa warned that if the opposition candidate Guillermo Lasso wins the presidential election, he fears that a political persecution will be initiated against him. He also said he will defend himself without leaving the country.
In an interview with local media in the city of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Correa expressed confidence that the ruling party will win in those votes, but insisted on their fear of being persecuted if the right wing wins.
“Do not doubt that if that guy (Lasso) wins, but I´m sure he will not win, he’s going to start chasing us,” said the president in the interview, in which he also attacked CREO’s opposition candidate for Vice President, Andrés Páez, whom he described as “a damaged guy at the public and private levels.”
However, Correa insisted that he is confident that the ruling party will win in April, although he warned that the opposition, which is allied to Lasso and Paez, will supposedly to try to ignore that victory and create confusion.
