Correa Signed State of Emergency
Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa signed a 60-day state of emergency decree on Friday. This decree orders the evacuation of the coastal areas until there is an updated report of the situation today at 17:00, because it is the estimated time when the tsunami could reach the coasts of Ecuador.
Correa addressed the nation at 06:40 on Friday and called Ecuadorians to remain calm, he also asked for the cooperation of the citizens to evacuate Galápagos coastal areas and the coastline of the continent without panic.
According to a report of the atmospheric and ocean management in the U.S. (NOAA), the time of the possible impact on the Ecuadorian coast is in Baltra Island (Galapagos) at 17:31; in Esmeraldas at 19:03, and in La Libertad at 19:24.
