President Rafael Correa, warned his critics that if they dissapear the Yachay University, one of the emblematic leftovers of his government, he will run for the elections of 2021.
“If they dissapear Yachay I run for president in 2021,” said Correa and emphasized the different careers offered by the university.
These statements took place during the Weekly Adress No. 481 and clarified that this university is a priority for his government. It is such a priority that he said his administration will allocate the necessary resources to achieve an education at the planned level.
The Yachay University has been described as a “white elephant” by its critics and was the center of a scandal when it was revealed that its first rector earned more than 16 thousand dollars a month or when it emerged that its directors did not live in Ecuador and they met through Skype conferences (I).
