Cesar Monge, the national president of the CREO party, accused before the National Electoral Council the alleged disrespect to the Code of Democracy by the vice presidential candidate of the Alianza PAIS (AP) party, Jorge Glas.
According to Monge, Glas has participated in the inauguration of schools in Portoviejo, Chone, and Santa Ana, in the province of Manabí, something that would be prohibited by Section 207 of the aforementioned legal provision.
“We expect the corresponding sanctions before this fact, that in addition to putting in disadvantage the candidate of the opposition, Guillermo Lasso, shows a clear violation of the law, as it is a custom of this Government, which manages the legislation for its benefit,” Monge said in a statement.
Lasso, on the other hand, denounced in its Twitter account, citing his contender Lenín Moreno, of AP, that the latter “uses seized TV channels like @tctelevision (TC Mi Canal) to spread his dirty campaign.”
In the Twitter account of the television network, the CREO hopeful is described as “an offshore tycoon,” and it is ensured that one of his companies “earned 30 million dollars after the banking holiday.”
