CREO is analyzing a route for challenge
Posted On 04 Apr 2017
Let every single vote be counted. That is what the CREO-SUMA alliance seeks after denouncing alleged inconsistencies in the counting of votes during Sunday´s elections. To achieve this goal, its leaders have decided to challenge the official data in all provinces.
Cesar Monge, the national director of CREO, explained Sunday night in Guayaquil that this will be the only way to know “the real results expressed at the polls” in the runoff elections.
Fausto Holguín, the secretary of the National Electoral Council (CNE), said that until midday yesterday, only 16 complaints were filed in the nearly 41.000 polling stations. The objections came from the two finalist political organizations.
“So far we have not received written complaints. The claims were made during the counting and were evacuated immediately,” said Holguín.
