Crickets and blackouts after first rains in Guayaquil

This Sunday, around 18:00,  began to rain heavily in the north, west and centre of the city. Through the social network Twitter, several users reported that there were strong rainfalls in sectors like  the Malecon Simon Bolivar and 9 de Octubre Avenue an also such in La Alborada, North Huancavilca, Guayacanes and Urdesa.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, in its twitter account (@inamhi), pointed out that they expect the rain to descend during the night and early morning. They also requested the people to take precautions.

The rain, also caused power outages for more than 45 minutes in some sectors as Bellavista, in the North.

Also, with the first rains the crickets appeared, insects that are under the Earth and come out in search of food when they feel that the temperature and humidity increases.

They are attracted by the yellow light, so are usually in lit places, such as shopping malls, homes and institutions. Halogen light repels them.
