Daily Hoy workers are asking to be liquidated
Workers of Edisatélite, the company that edited the daily Hoy in Guayaquil, ask that the Superintendency of Companies appoint a liquidator to ensure the payment of their salaries.
Alcides Montilla, Journalist who worked at the newspaper since this was founded, said that they claim the salaries of July and August, unpaid holidays and annual bonuses.
They also ask to be paid off with the figure of untimely dismissal and eviction; and that the employer’s retirement of 6 of the 24 employees of the group in Guayaquil be considered.
On the other hand, César Muñoz, Photographer with 17 years of work, said that the President of Edisatélite, Jaime Mantilla, proposed last week that they sign the voluntary resignation. Those who did would receive 80% of their payments, but in three months.
“Thirteen companions signed, but eleven decided to not, because we want they to pay us all that the law requires, that’s why we ask for a liquidator to ensure the assets selling process,” Muñoz said.
