After two years of depressed sales, the dairy industry shows a recovery. In the first five months of this year, companies in the sector recorded growth in production and sales in all product categories.
Pasteurizadora Quito, a company that produces Vita milk, showed up to May increases of 2% in UHT (ultra-pasteurized) milk and 28% in carton milk. The sales of the company also increased in other products, such as oats (more than 30%), yogurt (44%), cream milk (26%) and butter (5%).
The president of the Center for the Dairy Industry (CIL for its Spanish acronym) Rafael Vizcarra said that the recovery of the sector is related to a strong campaign of the dairy industry and the State to promote the consumption of healthy products. (I)
